What to expectblunt, subjective feedback oriented toward making you and the maps you create more epic and cool. i do quite a bit in the osu community and am a flight instructor in real life, so don't expect me to babysit you, as i simply do not have the time nor energy to do so.
Looking for in a menteea mentee who actually wants to learn from *me* and is willing to hear some harsh unfiltered opinions. most of what i teach is quite subjective i.e. there isn't a correct answer but i want a mentee who is open minded and just as willing to abandon ideas that didn't work as they are to experiment with new ones. i want someone who is already active and self-motivated. i am not looking to teach the basics of mapping, so please don't apply to me if you're a new mapper. i expect some consistent activity (because you only get out of me what you put in), so if you apply to me, please plan to make at least 2 maps a month during the cycle. tl;dr look at my recent maps and you'll get an idea of how i think about mapping, and likewise what i want to teach. again, please do not apply unless you want to learn from me specifically. i won't be looking at any applications that do not list me specifically, or that obviously didn't read this mentor description

Mapping styleI like to make simple anime/jpop maps that are comfortable to play but also have interesting parts in the map which emphasize unique parts of the song. I also like clean visuals and thinking about patterns (even if they're simple) which end up in a very structured/consistent map as a result. I also like to map simple alternate maps sometimes. I also care a lot about low difficulties
What to expectI will first teach you the method I use to improve as a mapper, I divide it into three categories: 1. Mapping to improve, 2. Mapping for fun and 3. Socializing. When you understand this method and how to apply it, I will give you homework every week so that by the end of the cycle you know how to make a rankable solo spread from Easy -> Expert. I will also teach you another method to study anyone's mapping style although we will be focusing on my mapping inspirations (Silky for the most part). You will also be invited to my mentee's server where you can meet past mentees/BNs which is a good place to meet new people and also to ask for feedback when I'm not available. I can also teach how to hitsound as well
Looking for in a menteeI'm looking for someone who really likes osu! in general and has a lot of motivation to map. You don't need to have a microphone. I also value three things: 1. Being positive, which means you're not constantly on a mental state where you feel like you suck at everything. I like positive people that sets a goal and thinks they are going to achieve it. If you want to be someone then you need to believe you are that someone. 2. Music taste and hobbies. I used to watch a lot of anime in the past so most of the things I map are anime or japanese pop. It also happens to be simple to map so that's good. I also like a lot of music genres like EDM and kpop but I don't map it as often. 3. Hanging around. Have fun, let's talk about what we do, play games together, analyze maps, meet other people etc... osu! is a social game!

What to expectFeedback will mostly be direct through either PM or Voice chat. My sessions are set up to best suit your schedule, and your motivation to improve will be the defining factor of how fast your improvement is. Rather than focusing on finding a style that may best suit you, I will be helping you reach your goals as a mapper. Expect to learn how to become a mapper with strong fundamentals. Osu!mapping is incredibly vast and there are no single answers to problems. Which is why you should also expect to learn multiple ways on how to approach said problem. If you are looking for a mentor that is more focused on "generic" mapping and PP focused, I am the wrong mentor for you. I more so enjoy teaching song representation in addition to gameplay and how you can utilize both to elevate the song. I like to be blunt/honest about my opinions on your mapping. With that, I'm very open to discussing anything osu! related that may either widen your view or better solidify your own belief. While I may be mentoring mapping, you will indirectly and directly learn modding alongside mapping, as it will only benefit you as a mapper in the long run. (I did mentor modding prior to mapping so if you are interested in also modding and potentially getting BN, please let me know.)
Looking for in a menteeYour goal as a mentee of mine should be to improve on mapping and not to solely rank maps or get a ranked map. While a short-term goal of getting a ranked map is fine, mapping is so much more than a ranked status and your creativity should also not be limited because of it. With that being said, try something new, take risks, and go out of your comfort zone! I expect mentees to be willing to put in the time and effort to improve, along with the dedication to actually show up consistently and ask questions no matter how stupid it may be.

Mapping styleI tend to map in a loose/flexible style, where the overall design changes dramatically from song to song. In terms of modding I look primarily on intent and its effect on the feedback it provides within the map. I love maps that try to attempt challenging or cool ideas, regardless of the level of execution from the mapper being enough to faithfully carry them out.
What to expectI will be there, and you got the spotlight, so I'll anwser anything you wanna know or learn and I give you the space to ask a million questions. I can give homework for sure, but you should be able to make maps and send them to me unprompted. I believe that in order to prove that you have to be willing to try a thousand times; my goal is to make that process as constructive as possible.
Looking for in a menteeI'm a firm believer in practice makes perfect, so I want future mentees to be willing to set aside time and brain space to get nice sessions whether its in the editor or just in chats on improving their mapping map by map and in the overall development of their career! With that aside, its important that in this journey of mapping to have fun and enjoy the process, in spite of failures or setbacks. This is a mapping adventure where the road isn't going to be clean or full of success, so I want mentees who is able to handle these teething days and feelings in a healthy manner. Half of mapping is in your head so its important to take care of that noggin! Finally, I want to be clear in that I am not too concerned with whether you believe your mapping is "good enough" or is "acceptable" to be mentored for or whether you think your mapping can be "fixed". I signed up to mentor inexperienced mappers so yes I'm looking precisely for rough maps and unpolished ideas!

Mapping styleI like studying mappers, figuring out what makes people's maps fun and applying them to my own work. I don't like constricting myself to a specific style and try to create a style based on the song I am working with. I also love limit pushing/getting involved with tourney mapping/getting playtesters to get a better grasp on how stuff feels instead of how it "theoretically" should.
What to expectI would love to map/study at the same time as you as it helps with general motivation and getting projects completed in a mutually beneficial environment. You can ask for advice, map reviews or anything at any time I'm available. If you like staring at maps, getting obsessed with something to yap for hours, have time to spend being ambitious then we'll probably be able to chat about anything.
Looking for in a menteeAs long as you're willing to like check in like weekly so I know you aren't demotivation spiraling, just have good communication skills and let me know if something is up. You should be very vocal about maps/mappers you enjoy and what you enjoy about them so I can better understand your ideals. Bonus points if you're a well established/ex player who wants to get more into the mapping side of things as we could relate to each other.

What to expectGeneral work flow, is for me to have the mentee map a TV Size map around once every week or bi-weekly(i don't force you to do this but its advised to map semi constantly to improve) of which i will look at find a core concept to focus on and then have them map the next TV Size with this in mind.
